We have all experienced personal ‘sunrises’ and ‘twilight hours’ — moments when we suddenly look at the world in a new way. Discovery of Sight revels in the mystery, science, and poetry of what it means to truly ‘see.’ Beyond seasoned and much-loved masterpieces like Richard Strauss’ “Traumlicht,” Franz Schubert’s “Die Nacht,” and Eric Whitacre’s “Lux Aurumque,” the program breaks new ground with a new commission from Gabriel Kahane.

Storytelling is a wondrous and meaningful part of the holiday season. In Christmas with Cantus, Cantus reimagines beloved stories through familiar carols and new holiday hits. Featuring narrated passages from such classic holiday tales as A Christmas Carol, Gift of the Magi, and ‘Twas the Nigh Before Christmas, Christmas with Cantus reminds us of the meaning and joy of the season with fresh perspective and just the right amount of nostalgia.

We can all too easily find ourselves detached from the natural world. Even so, the Earth always remains integral to our lives, providing not only life-sustaining resources but also artistic inspiration. Though we may be imperfect stewards of our planet, we can share an appreciation of its profound beauty and fragility. Join Cantus at For the Beauty of the Earth for a celebration of the majesty of this planet that we share.
