The Four Loves

Love has been the inspiration for artistic expression since the dawn of time. The idea is so complex that the Greeks broke it down into four different kinds: romantic, familial, friendly and unconditional love. Cantus regards our greatest and most fragile gift in The Four Loves. With premieres by David Lang, Ysaye Barnwell (“Wanting Memories”), Roger Treece and Joseph Gregorio as well as music by Beethoven, Poulenc and Grieg, The Four Loves looks at this unquantifiable emotion from all sides.

“…the most cogent and well-executed Cantus program I’ve encountered.”
