“There Lies the Home” has been postponed at this time. Read more from our Executive Director below.

Dear friends of Cantus:

Because of the escalating coronavirus/COVID-19 situation, we have decided to postpone our There Lies the Home concert series, originally scheduled for March 20 – April 4. We are disappointed that we can’t share this wonderful program with you, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. However, we must prioritize the well-being of our audiences and artists alike, as well as that of the broader community.

We are currently working with our partner venues to identify new dates in the summer, and we will follow up via e-mail in the next few days with those who have already purchased tickets to share more details and information on how to exchange your tickets. We are excited to share “There Lies the Home” with you on a brighter day. If you are unable to attend one of the new dates, we respectfully ask you to consider converting your ticket purchase into a tax-deductible donation. As a friend of Cantus, you can appreciate the incredible challenge of this evolving situation to the organization’s finances. As a nonprofit, the vast majority of our resources are invested directly and immediately into Cantus’ artistic and educational mission, leaving little “padding” for such dramatic contingencies as this. At this time, we will press ahead with our 25th anniversary concert and gala on May 3 as planned, though we will continue to monitor the situation.

Thank you for your understanding. Stay healthy, and we will see you again soon.

With gratitude and best wishes,

Joe Heitz
Executive Director, Cantus

Take a journey with Cantus into the land of fantasy and magic. Continuing Cantus’ tradition of highlighting solo voices and duets, Cantus draws on the work of composers who explore the miraculous and imaginary. This program centers on Donald Swann’s song cycle The Road Goes Ever On, settings of texts by J.R.R. Tolkien from his monumental work The Lord of the Rings and other writings about Tolkien’s Middle-earth universe.
