COVID-19 Update

Cantus Cancels Remainder of Season

Dear friends of Cantus:

I’m writing to let you know that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of our concert season. This includes Covers: Greatest Hits (June 5-14), There Lies the Home (previously rescheduled to June 23-27), and The Road Goes Ever On (July 14-17).

We are deeply sorry that we can’t share these programs with you. In fact, we had already postponed our There Lies the Home program from late March to late June in hopes that the COVID-19 crisis would have receded enough to accommodate in-person concerts. Sadly, that was too optimistic, and we cannot in good conscience proceed as planned. The safety of our audiences and artists alike is our top priority.

Smaller nonprofits like Cantus invest the vast majority of our resources directly and immediately into our artistic and educational mission, which offers little cushion to face challenges of this magnitude. If you are able, we respectfully ask that you please consider converting your ticket purchase to a donation that will help Cantus press ahead to brighter days.

If you prefer to have your ticket purchase refunded, please e-mail sales@cantussings.org with your name and mailing address by June 15, 2020. Any remaining tickets will be converted to donations after that date. (Because some refunds must be issued by check, please allow up to 30 days for processing.)

All ticketing transactions will be handled by Cantus; please do not contact the Cowles Center or the Ordway box offices.

My colleagues and I are so grateful for your support and understanding — and we can’t wait to share music with you again in-person. Until then, please check out music that we recorded before the crisis hit, including our COVID-19 Sessions and a new video from our partners at Minnesota Public Radio’s Choral Stream. Circumstances permitting, we hope to have more music to share with you throughout the coming months, until we can all gather together again.

Thank you again for your support of Cantus. Take care, please stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

With gratitude and best wishes,

Joe Heitz
